Ptosis Over-correction Repair

This patient had undergone a prior ptosis surgery to treat a drooping upper eyelid. Unfortunately, her eyelid muscle contraction was such that she wasn't able to fully close her right eye after the repair which created chronic drying to the eye itself. Over time this was also leading to corneal injury as well. The patient's cornea ophthalmology specialist referred the patient to Dr. Lamperti to work on improving the patient's eyelid closure to better protect her globe. Dr. Lamperti performed a revision ptosis repair in which he removed the patient's levator muscle sutures which allowed the eyelid to drop a few millimeters lower. You can see how the medial upper lid peaking in the before photos is now improved in the 7 month after photos and the patient is able to now get much improved eye closure. Most importantly, the patient's cornea is much healthier now that it is better protected against drying.
