Functional Upper Eyelid Male Blepharoplatsy

This elderly male Seattle blepharoplasty patient had noted progressively worsening upper eyelid drooping over the last several years. He found that the resulting excess upper eyelid skin was blocking his field of vision making it especially hard to see. Dr. Lamperti assessed the patient's lids and noted severe dermatochalasis (excess eyelid skin) and lateral hooding. Formal visual field testing was done that documented a significant upper field defect that improved significantly after temporarily taping his eyelids upward. Dr. Lamperti then performed functional upper eyelid blepharoplasty surgery in his office procedure room using just local numbing injection. You can see how in the after photos the patient's severely drooping upper eyelid skin is much improved after surgery. Importantly, a conservative approach was used to avoid feminizing his facial features.
