Preoperative Medication Instructions
Find out which medications, supplements and herbal remedies you should avoid using around the time of your plastic surgery procedure. You can print a pdf version of these preoperative medication instructions here.
Aspirin and aspirin-related products should not be taken within 10 to 14 days before or after surgery. These medications may increase your risk of bleeding during or after surgery. Many non-prescription medicines contain aspirin or aspirin-related ingredients. If in doubt, substitute Tylenol® (acetaminophen) as it does not increase your risk of bleeding.

Tobacco:
Nicotine, in any form, can adversely affect your wound healing. Discontinue cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, nicotine gum and patches two weeks before and after surgery. Nicotine causes the small blood vessels in your skin to contract. If Dr. Lamperti is elevating skin as part of your operation and you have nicotine in your system, you are at a significantly increased risk for necrosis (death) of that skin.
Alcohol:
Abstain from drinking alcoholic beverages for two weeks before surgery.
