Bulbous Nasal Tip Case Study
In my last post I discussed how a chin implant can make the nose look smaller. Today we're going to look at the same patient to see what options we have when it comes to improving a large, bulbous nasal tip.
Broad, Trapezoidal Tip Improvement
Looking again at the pre-operative frontal view of our patient you can appreciate that the patient has a broad, full tip. The tip is also quite deviated to the patient's right. Check out how I also straightened his deviated nose here.
Looking at his pre-operative base view you can see how the patient's tip has a trapezoidal shape, rather than the more ideal triangular shape.
In the 1 year post-operative views on the right sided panes above and below you can see how the tip was narrowed. This was done using sutures to bring the tip cartilages closer together. Also, lower lateral crural strut grafts were used to flatten the patient's convex tip cartilage that further contributed to the nasal bulbosity.
The overall result is a smaller appearing nose that has very natural contours and better fits the patient's face. Importantly, the patient's nose actually functions better as the patient has much improved nasal breathing. Want to see more? Check out more before and after rhinoplasty patient photos here.
